He/ Him
Rik Versteeg is a queer visual artist whose work explores self-expression through themes of human rights, climate change, and our connection to nature, all filtered through a queer perspective. Art became both refuge and empowerment for Rik, shaping a practice that moves between reality and surrealism to create spaces for personal and collective reflection.
Working across photography, film, makeup, and costume design, Rik challenges societal norms, the heteronormative gaze, and patriarchal structures. His vivid colors, layered metaphors, and emotionally charged concepts invite viewers to explore their own stories of identity and belonging. Rik’s work celebrates authenticity while fostering empathy, equality, and community.
