Cool Cat

Cool Cat

Cool Cat is a quiet statement of presence: rooted, self-assured and unmistakably her own. As in Lara Askari-Ugarte’s earlier work, anonymity is deliberate, shifting attention away from facial detail and toward style, posture and personal expression. Identity is carried through what the figure chooses to embody — the elegance of her clothing, the sense of movement in the garment and the cultural resonance of her appearance. The work suggests that individuality does not depend on recognisable features, but can emerge just as powerfully through attitude, style and presence.
