Service Entrance
Service Entrance explores the tension between visibility and concealment, submission and dominance. In this striking black-and-white photograph, Rik Versteeg captures a figure emerging through a split in the darkness, stepping between worlds as light carves out their silhouette. The high boots, mask, and BDSM-inspired attire transform the body into an emblem of controlled power—both commanding and vulnerable at once.
The work examines the ritual of entering a space, questioning who holds authority: the viewer or the subject. Through its theatrical composition, the body becomes a threshold—a place where identity is performed and desire drives transformation. Service Entrance continues Versteeg’s exploration of light, shadow, and queer embodiment, inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries between fetish, fantasy, and the self.
