They / Them
Alex Kyah is a Geneva-based painter whose work explores identity and intimacy through expressive figuration and bold use of color. Shaped by early experiences of suppressing their queer identity, Kyah’s practice grows from a personal search for authenticity and self-liberation.
Painting became both refuge and resistance—a way to reconnect inner truth with outward expression. Their compositions balance vulnerability and strength, portraying figures suspended between exposure and protection. Since 2019, Kyah has developed a focused studio practice under the mentorship of Swiss-Cuban painter Yoanys Diaz. Their work has been exhibited in Geneva and featured internationally, reflecting a visual language grounded in emotional depth and resilience.
