He/ Him
ego andaluz is a Spanish gay artist and printmaker based in Zurich, Switzerland. Through homoerotic linocuts and screenprints, he uses the male body to explore queer identity, masculinity, desire, visibility and self-perception. His work is interested in the tension between how we see ourselves and how we are read by others, and in the social codes, expectations and stereotypes that shape gay identity. His background in sociology informs this perspective, connecting personal experience with a broader examination of queer culture and the politics of visibility. After years of working privately, he began showing his work publicly in 2025, a process he describes as a second coming out. His work has since been presented in exhibitions including QUEER UNFRAMING — Art Beyond Straight Lines during Gallery Weekend Berlin and PRIVATE PARTY at Anggrek Agency in Zurich, and has been featured in international queer media.
Working primarily with linocut and screenprint, ego andaluz embraces the physical and irreversible nature of printmaking. Carving, pressure, repetition and imperfection become part of a practice concerned with what it means to make oneself visible. Shortly after he began publicly exhibiting his queer work, the window of his Zurich studio was vandalised. His response was simple: “This is exactly why I won’t stop.”
