They / He
M. Izer is a queer, disabled, and Hard of Hearing artist from rural Oregon, currently based in Washington, DC. Working across visual art and music, their practice challenges the idea that creative expression is bound to sound, instead foregrounding the visual and sensory languages central to Deaf and Hard of Hearing culture.
Their work exists in dialogue with their musical practice, forming a dynamic, cross-medium relationship where image and sound inform one another. As a performer in several queer bands, Izer extends their artistic voice beyond the visual, creating layered experiences of identity, presence, and communication. In 2024, they were awarded the collegiate national championship in poetry performance and informative speaking, further expanding their engagement with language, embodiment, and storytelling. Their work reflects a commitment to redefining perception, accessibility, and the boundaries of artistic expression.
