Caught in the Gender Web is a self-portrait exploring gender identity through fashion, styling and personal presence. Set against tangled branches and dressed in web-like black clothing, Verity uses visual texture to reflect the expectations and categories often imposed on gender expression. Yet the figure does not appear trapped; instead, they remain composed and self-defined within the scene. The work asserts that clothing has no inherent gender and that external presentation does not invalidate internal identity. Here, fashion becomes a space of freedom, experimentation and self-recognition.
