Nadene Micklewright

She/ Her

Nadene Micklewright is a multimedia artist whose practice explores the lasting influence of Y2K and McBling culture. Drawing on the visual language of the early 2000s, she examines how its aesthetics continue to shape contemporary celebrity culture, music, fashion, and personal identity. Through research, interpolation, and image-making, Micklewright traces the ways these references are reinterpreted by today’s artists and translated into her own work.

Her practice is closely connected to her personal interests, including an extensive collection of merchandise and vinyl records. Working particularly through collage, Micklewright combines popular imagery, fashion, music, and material culture to create intimate reflections on nostalgia and self-expression. Her work also explores sexuality and the influence of gendered clothing and objects, offering viewers insight into how these codes shape her thoughts, emotions, and lived experience.
