In 5 Guys, Deshon Smith gathers five figures in a close circle, seen from below as they lean into the frame. The compressed viewpoint turns a casual group encounter into a vivid study of queer community, intimacy and mutual recognition.

Rendered in saturated pinks, violets and electric blues, the bodies feel both monumental and tender. Each figure holds a distinct expression, yet their proximity creates a shared emotional field—playful, watchful and charged with the energy of collective presence. The composition shifts the viewer’s position, placing us inside the circle rather than outside it.

By centring queer bodies without apology, Smith transforms an everyday group portrait into an image of visibility and belonging. 5 Guys celebrates friendship, desire and the freedom of being seen together.
