Honey Pot
Honey Pot reimagines the familiar metaphor of the “melting pot” through a warmer and more generous image of collective life. Deshon Smith brings distinct colours, histories and identities into a shared composition without asking them to dissolve into sameness. Dense gestures and contrasting hues remain visibly individual, yet they meet, overlap and influence one another across the canvas. The painting treats diversity as an active social force rather than a decorative ideal: personal experience remains legible while contributing to the communities and societies it helps shape. Bold colour becomes both celebration and invitation, proposing belonging as something created through difference, exchange and mutual recognition.
