He/Him
Thomas Hartmann, working as @curiofoto, is a Frankfurt-based photographer whose practice explores bodies, identity, performance and the shifting roles people inhabit. Beginning in the 1980s, he has worked across photography, film and video, continually testing how new technologies can expand the representation of presence, intimacy and the third dimension.
After two decades as an actor, Hartmann returned to photography as his primary focus, bringing more than forty years of image-making into a practice shaped by theatrical sensitivity and technical experimentation. His recent work uses 3D lenticular processes to give still images a vivid spatial presence without special viewing equipment. Selected by the MorePixx jury in 2024 and 2025, he participated in Fetishnale Berlin 2026 and has been represented by Galerie Newman, Berlin, since May 2026.
