In Stop! In the name of R!, minimal light cuts across rubber, shifting abruptly between black, white and reflective surface. The material becomes both armour and exposure: a barrier against the outside world that heightens every sensation within it. Hartmann photographs this tension between control and surrender without resolving it, allowing desire, restraint and theatrical self-fashioning to occupy the same charged space.
