Bench Time turns a pause into a charged study of the body at rest. The figure steps away from effort and performance, allowing skin, posture and breath to reclaim their own rhythm. Hartmann leaves the scene deliberately open: the subject may be recovering from exertion or gathering themselves before beginning again. That ambiguity shifts the image from simple repose toward a quieter reflection on queer embodiment, endurance and the freedom to stop being observed on demand.
