Sorcerers Bird
Sorcerers Bird explores avian deities, ancestral presence, and spiritual transformation through a monumental mixed-media installation. At its centre, Dario Mohr presents the African Grass Owl as a magnetic, anthropomorphic figure whose radiance draws the surrounding space into a ritual field.
Created during the artist’s residency at NYC Audubon on Governors Island, the work connects Sub-Saharan African folklore with ancestor veneration. Assemblage, painted surfaces, and architectural scale transform the owl from a familiar symbol of wisdom into a powerful guardian, seducer, and mediator between human and spiritual worlds.
