Palanggâ

Palanggâ explores love as a physical impulse rather than an idealised romantic experience. Its title comes from Hiligaynon, a language spoken in the Philippines, where “palanggâ” is a term of affection meaning “beloved” or “dear”. Here, the word is reinterpreted through restrained desire, bodily tension and anticipation. By removing the face from the composition, identity gives way to the body, while the fabric barely containing it creates an erotic tension without revealing everything. The work challenges conventional representations of love, presenting intimacy as something physical, vulnerable and unresolved, and continuing amariconarte’s exploration of gay desire, intimacy and non-normative experience.
