José Carlos León, known artistically as amariconarte, is a Spanish visual artist based in Madrid whose figurative paintings explore queer identity, desire, intimacy, and the often-hidden realities of gay culture. Through vibrant colour and direct visual narratives, his work confronts social taboos surrounding sexuality, pleasure, vulnerability, and stigma within the LGBTQ+ community.

Originally from Ciudad Real, León began his creative practice in illustration, animation, and graphic design before turning his focus towards contemporary painting. His work seeks to reclaim queer experience without censorship, presenting intimate and provocative scenes that challenge viewers to confront both desire and prejudice. Beneath their bold surfaces, his paintings create space for visibility, honesty, and a more complex understanding of queer life.
