Inspired by the tarot archetype of the fool or jester, this self-portrait considers the charged moment before a new beginning. Created during a period of transition—between the completion of a thesis and a move across the United States—the work holds anxiety and possibility in the same frame. Resolute yet watchful, the figure prepares for the performance ahead while the past remains close behind. The Jester treats uncertainty not as paralysis, but as a space in which queer potential can take form.
